New Beginnings Assembly Hall, West Frankfort, Illinois
The night kicked off with Brooklyn Bobby addressing the
crowd and introducing the newest aquisition to his stable, "Mr.
Attitude" Tony Stetson. Stetson has chalked up a few victories as of late
in AAPW and was fast becoming a fan favorite. Why he has chosen to align
himself with Brooklyn Bobby is anyone's guess. Stetson made short work of the
rookie, Jay Spade in the opening bout.
Payday Patterson made his AAPW debut Saturday night. As Patterson entered the ring, he could only be described as a bit of a buffoon. However, once the bell rang, he gave his opponent, Mike Sydal, all he could handle! Sydal, who is known to fans in the midwest as the brother of Matt Sydal (WWE's Evan Bourne), continues to show fans that he is making a name for himself on his own by chalking up another victory.
Ax Stevens and Mike Masters faced EL Magnifico and his "mystery opponent" El Fabuloso. Collectively known as Los Dos Amigos. Stevens and Masters showed the Amigos what old school is all about. However, the Amigos were able to overcome them and pull out a victory.
Former AAPW Heavyweight Champion, "Homicidal" Steven Davis, entered the ring awaiting Carnage. Carnage charged into the ring and Davis attacked him immediately with a barrage of knees, punches, and chops. Carnage turned the tables and began to literally manhandle Davis, slamming him all over the ring and whipping him from corner to corner. While the referee was warning Carnage about letting Davis out of the corner, Davis' manager, Brooklyn Bobby, handed Davis a police baton! Davis struck Carnage and the referee disqualified Davis immediately. However, Davis would show a most vicious and brutal side of himself by relentlessly beating Carnage with the baton. Los Dos Amigos came to the aid of Carnage and had to carry him from the ring. Although not how he hoped, this was the first singles victory for Carnage in nearly 2 years.
"The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt entered the ring and introduced himself to the crowd. He praised himself on his accomplishments, titles, and how he is ranked #1 in the midwest by Missouri Wrestling Revival. AAPW fans were not impressed and showed genuine dislike for Wyatt. Wyatt informed the fans he would be the new AAPW champion at the end of the evening.
Due to being a victim of an attack in his hometown, Ty Blade was not cleared by his doctor to wrestle. Curly stepped up and took his place to face Crimson Shock. In a surprising upset, Curly was able to defeat the masked man which meant Crimson Shock had to unmask and reveal himself. As the mask came off, fans were "shocked" to see it was "Thunderbolt" Brandon Walker! Walker had cancelled on an event in West Frankfort in April of 2008 and had not been seen in AAPW since.
All American Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship Match
The AAPW Fan's Choice tag team title match pitted the challengers "Spitfire" Davey Vega and "Blackheart" Johnny Vinyl against AAPW tag team champs, The LONRS, Mark Sterling and #1 Brett Young. (Brett Young has replaced Darrien Sanders). Vega and Vinyl did not let down those fans that voted for them by battling the champs back and forth for nearly 30 minutes. The challengers had Sterling in a precarious position and appeared to be going for the knockout blow. BUT, they failed to keep their eyes out for Young. Young blindsided Vega which allowed Sterling to rake the eyes of Vinyl and toss him out of the ring. Sterling and Young double teamed Vega and put him away with a vicious piledriver.
All American Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship Match
The main event lived up to all it's hype. AAPW Champion, "Serial Thriller" Shane Rich and "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt went hold for hold treating the fans to a classic bout of technical wrestling. As one gained the advantage, the other countered. Wyatt's frustration got the better of him and he turned to cheating tactics to gain the advantage. Wyatt continued to taunt AAPW fans throughout the contest. The Champion appeared to have the match in hand as he went to the top rope on several occasions and showed Wyatt why he is the "Serial Thriller", hitting Wyatt with a hurricanrana off the top, a moonsault, and a splash from the top. However, Rich could not finish off "The Rebel". Pinfall attempts were exchanged several times until Rich finally got Wyatt on his shoulders and hit him with The Thrill Seeker for the win. Controversy ensued as many saw Wyatt's foot on the bottom rope before the 3 count. The referee did not see it and Rich retained the title.
Afterward, as George "The Animal" The 3rd, was conducting a taped interview for a local film student, Wyatt entered the locker room and attacked Rich! Wyatt was forcefully removed from the locker room. Rich only suffered a bloody nose from the attack. This does not look to be the end of this confrontation.
