New Beginnings Assembly Hall - West Frankfort, Illinois
On a cool and rainy night in West Frankfort 128 screaming fans enjoyed the hot action at New Beginnings Assembly.
Guest Ring Announcer, George "The Animal" 3rd called Edmund "Livewire" McGuire to the ring to inform him that due to "Thunderbolt" Brandon Walker" being absent because of an injury that "Liverwire" did not have an opponent for the evening. "Liverwire" informed the fans that he did not want to disappoint them and vowed to be in action before the end of the evening.
As introductions for the opening match were about to me made, former AAPW Heavyweight Champion "Homicidal" Steven Davis made his way to the ring with microphone in hand. Davis complained that he did not receive a fair ONE ON ONE title rematch against the man who beat him for the title, "Serial Thriller" Shane Rich. Davis challenged Rich for the rematch. Rich came to ringside and a war of words ensued between the two. Rich stepped into the ring ready to accept the challenge from Davis when Carnage snuck in from behind and blind sided Rich. Davis and Rich began to double team Rich. The 6'9" "The Future" Donavan Ruddick hit the ring and he and Rich cleaned house! Ruddick and Rich challenged Davis and Carnage for a tag match later in the evening which Davis accepted.
The opening bout featured Mike Masters taking on the returning "Thee" Brandon Espinosa. What started out as a spirited match up between two fan favorites quickly deteriorated as Masters became frustrated with the very capable Espinosa. Masters resorted to cheating tactics to gain advantages throughout the match and ended up with a cheap and controversial victory.
"Bad Boy" Chris Thomas made his AAPW debut in the second match of the evening against J.C. Blade. Blade, who had yet to secure a win in AAPW looked as though he would taste defeat yet again as Thomas dominated him through most of the match. To everyone's surprise, even Blade's, he pulled out a win!
"Homicidal" Steven Davis entered the ring with Carnage awaiting their opponents. As Shane Rich and "The Future" charged the ring, Davis met "The Future" with a knee to the head keeping him from entering the ring. Davis and Carnage double teamed Rich. The lightning fast Rich ducked a double clothesline attempt and Davis and Carnage were hit with a thunderous shot from the 6'9" Ruddick. Ruddick and Rich dominated their opponents through the first ten minutes of the match with the lethal combination of Ruddick's size and power and the quickness and high flying of Rich. Davis and Carnage were eventually able to isolate Rich and wear him down. Rich showed tremendous heart and was able to make the tag to Ruddick. Ruddick easily disposed of Davis and flat out over-powered the 250 lb. masked man getting the pinfall.
AAPW recognized one of it's biggest supporters. Danny Rady, a native of West Frankfort, was invited to the ring. Rady has been at ringside at nearly every AAPW event since the promotions inception in October of 2006. Ax Stevens and his Manager, Gaylord Stevens, ruined Rady's moment. They berated and bullied Rady. Edmund "Livewire" McGuire came to Rady's aid. "Livewire", who has a long history with Stevens, challenged him to a match. The main event was set.
Shawn Shultz returned from his 90 day suspension. Although scheduled to face Keith Knox. Knox was a no show. In his place, newcomer Allen Shepard gave a valiant effort. However, it was not enough to overcome the very experienced and talented Shultz.
European Scum Pierre Abernathy squared off with the 255 lb. "All American" J.T. Calhoun. Abernathy, who has earned the reputation of being just downright offensive to AAPW fans, got the butt whipping he has long deserved. Calhoun defeated Abernathy with a big boot and a leg drop???? Hmmmmmm.
The main event was everything fans have come to expect when "Livewire" matched up against Ax Stevens. Old school and brawling from start to finish. "Livewire" nailed Stevens with a superkick for the win. After the match, Danny Rady celebrated with "Livewire" in his victory. Unbeknownst to both of them, Stevens came to and attacked McGuire from behind as Gaylord bullied Rady. McGuire was handcuffed to the bottom rope and beaten with a steel chair and a steel chain! Security entered the ring and Stevens threatened them as well! Stevens was finally forced to leave the ring when the AAPW promoter threatened to suspend him. McGuire has been promised a rematch in Chester, IL. on May 17th.
