Results from AAPW Collision Season 2 Episode 3
Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Warehouse - Marion, Illinois
"Collision" returned to the air Saturday for the third episode of the second season of AAPW's flagship television program.
Executive Producer Chris Hagstrom and Play-By-Play Commentator Kevin Hunsperger opened the show recapping the ending of Episode 2, when Mike Masters had his foot on the bottom rope during a pin in his heavyweight title match with Edmund "Livewire" McGuire.
The referee didn't see Masters' foot and awarded the match - and successful title defense - to McGuire. The commentary team explains the situation will soon be addressed further.
"The Main Attraction" KC Jackson vs. "Beautiful" Brandon Aarons - No Limits Tournament First Round Match
Aarons made his AAPW debut in this match, a first-round bout in the No Limits tournament. On Episode Two of this season, Sean Vincent advanced to the second round, and Aarons looked to join him.
But standing in his way was Jackson, primarily known as a tag team wrestler but looking for singles success in the tournament.
Aarons started the match by stalling with the referee. It proved to be a good decision, as once the action started, it went squarely in Jackson's favor. Jackson came out with a big clothesline and bodyslam, as well as some fast-paced moves off the ropes.
Aarons slowed the match down by rolling to the outside, attempting to gain control. It worked short-term, but Jackson quickly regained his composure with a series of dropkicks.
Jackson tried to dive through the ropes onto Aarons on the floor, but Aarons was simply playing possum and caught Jackson off guard. He brought the action back into the ring and enjoyed his first stretch of offense in the match. The always-cocky Aarons proceeded to do push-ups on Jackson's neck, forcing his head into the mat. The referee tried to stop Aarons to no avail.
Jackson fought back out of a chinlock and dropped Aarons to regain control. He headed to the top turnbuckle, but Aarons countered his axehandle with a punch to the gut and a big kick, allowing Aarons to score a close two-count.
Aarons lifted Jackson onto his shoulders, but Jackson maneuvered his way out of the hold and threw Aarons into the ropes. As Aarons rebounded, Jackson hit his signature Stunner and put Aarons away for the three count.
With his victory, Jackson became the second man to advance to the semi-finals of the No Limits Tournament.
Winner: "The Main Attraction" KC Jackson
Mike Sydal vs. Mike Masters
Masters, obviously still upset by his unjustified loss on the previous episode, makes his way to the ring. Spotting a fan with an Edmund "Livewire" McGuire sign in the crowd, Masters grabs the sign and rips it to shreds, throwing it in the fan's face.
Sydal emerged from the back to raucous cheers from the fans. Masters, none to pleased with the reaction to Sydal, tries to get the fans on his side. He, of course, was very unsuccessful.
Masters and Sydal trade holds in the ring, with Sydal scoring an early near fall. Masters, though, would turn the tables. Sydal would rely on his agility and athleticism to maintain the advantage.
Sydal sent Masters to the outside, where he got caught up jawjacking with fans. But when the action returned to the ring, Masters used his experience to gain control and capture the opportunity when it was presented.
He began working over Sydal's leg, trying to limit the high-flyer from being able to hit his signature moves. The veteran continued to lay into the younger star with a series of chops in the corner.
Sydal would be unable to catch a break for several minutes, as Masters continued to unleash an onslaught of attack. But Sydal would weasel out of a Death Valley Driver attempt to catch a second wind of offense.
The injured leg would come into play, though, as Sydal's offense was hitting at 100 percent. It wouldn't keep the young star down, though, as he continued to mount a comeback against Masters.
Sydal would go to the middle turnbuckle, aiming for an aerial assault, but Masters would catch him and finally connect with a Death Valley Driver. Rather than go for the pin, though, Masters locked in a submission move, forcing Sydal to tap.
But even after the referee called for the bell, Masters held the move in place, contorting Sydal's leg even more.
Winner: Mike Masters
Backstage, Heath Hatton has words for Ax Allwardt in the wake of the "Old School Warrior's" sneak attack during the "Old School" segment on "All-Access." Hatton tells Allwardt that if he were a real man, he'd settle their issues in the ring.
Justice vs. Roscoe Dwayne Harris
Justice beat Harris' partner Jimmy Wayne Faygo on last week's episode of "All-Access," and The Convoy duo beat down the fans' favorite biker after the match.
Justice came out and slapped hands with the fans, giving away his signature bandana to one lucky boy sitting in the front row.
The two men lock up and it's a brawl from the beginning, with Justice seeming to have an early advantage. Harris rolled to the outside, trying to recover and formulate a new game plan with Faygo.
Faygo distracted the referee, while Harris assaulted Justice from the back. Then Harris returned the favor, allowing Faygo to choke Justice on the ropes. The double-team attacks allowed The Convoy's Harris to maintain the advantage, hitting the biker with big move after big move.
Justice countered a right hand from Harris and landed a number of southpaw punches himself. As he backed toward the rope, though, Faygo grabbed him from behind. As Harris charged, Justice moved and Harris sent his partner flying to the ground.
Justice was then able to catch Harris with a Black Hole Slam and put him down for the three count, securing wins over both members of The Convoy. Justice has been on a roll in AAPW since Season Two started.
Winner: Justice
Joey O'Riley vs. Christian Rose - No Limits Tournament First Round Match
The main event of today's episode came from the Hands Across Harrisburg fundraiser, where AAPW partnered with Southern Illinois Relief to raise thousands of dollars for tornado recovery efforts.
Rose entered first, swinging his AAPW Tag Team Championship high. O'Riley emerged next to cheers from the fans.
They tease a lock-up, but O'Riley started with a series of strikes. He's cut short by Rose, who takes him down to the mat. They trade blows off the ropes, and when Rose goes to toss O'Riley with a backbody drop, O'Riley lands on his feet.
O'Riley used his athleticism to hit some big moves, keeping Rose down on the mat. Rose reversed one of O'Riley's moves in the corner and used his strength to take control of the match.
With O'Riley on the outside, Rose hit a big baseball slide, knocking O'Riley into the guardrails. The show then headed to a commercial break with both men outside the ring.
Coming back to the action, Rose was in control in the ring, delivering a series of slams and kicks to a downed O'Riley.O'Riley recovered and hit a big running moonsault to bring the match back to his side.
It wouldn't last long, though, as Rose hit a big boot to O'Riley's face for a near fall. O'Riley was down, but he wasn't out. Rose continue to unleash his fierce strikes, but O'Riley refused to call it quits.
A series of reversals gave O'Riley a near fall of his own, but once again, the match became a see-saw battle with both men exchanging moves and the advantage.
O'Riley hit a big lariat into the corner and a springboard DDT, but that wasn't even enough to put Rose away.
The two continued to exchange moves, and with O'Riley on the apron, Rose called for a big dive. O'Riley move, Rose slowed down and O'Riley put him down with a series of kicks.
O'Riley climbed to the top and connected with a 450 splash to win the match and join Sean Vincent and KC Jackson in the semi-finals of the No Limits Tournament.
