Results from AAPW Collision Episode 18
Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Warehouse - Marion, Illinois
Today's episode of "Collision" opened with Chris Hagstrom and Kevin Hunsperger at the announce table confirming what many already knew, Mike Masters had been fired from All American Pro Wrestling following the incident at the end of the previous episode.
Justice vs. David Osborne
This match was originally scheduled to take place at the Hands Across Harrisburg benefit show, but that match was changed on the day of a show into a handicap tag match. Justice and his partner Ace Hawkins prevailed against The Convoy and Osborne.
Osborne started the match by pushing Justice into the corner and delivering a slap to his opponent. Justice responded in kind, albeit without the slap. Osborne teased a feeling-out process, luring Justice into his trap with a knee to the midsection and a series of strikes and submission moves focused on Justice's neck and upper body.
None of Osborne's offense seemed to be enough, though, as Justice kicked out of his pin attempt and refused to give up. Justice mounted a comeback and landed some powerful strikes of his own.
A shouldertackle, clothesline and big boot put the momentum squarely in Justice's favor, allowing him to hit a Black Hole Slam for an easy three count.
Result: Justice d. Dave Osborne
Following the match, the feed cut out to the show, and as the picture came back into focus, fans saw an image that appeared to be Edmund "Livewire" McGuire arriving at the Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Warehouse.
Minor Threat vs. Zakk Sawyer and Dalton Diamond
Sawyer and Diamond play a quick game of rock, paper, scissors to see who will enter the match first, but before it could end, Sawyer threw his partner into the ring. It was Espinosa and Diamond starting things off. Espinosa locked in an armlock, while Diamond unsuccessfully tried to reverse the move.
Espinosa made a quick tag to Hawkins, who immediately headed up top for an aerial move, but it wasn't enough to put Diamond away. Minor Threat continued the quick tags and double team moves, as they isolated Diamond and attempted numerous pinfalls.
Sawyer, however, caught Hawkins with a spear from the outside and shifted the momentum of the match, as he tagged in and went after Hawkins. Diamond and Sawyer managed to land some offese - and even a near fall - before Hawkins fought back, escaped Sawyer and Diamond and made the hot tag to Espinosa.
Espinosa came back into the match a man on fire, delivering clotheslines and elbow strikes to both Diamond and Sawyer. A neckbreaker-splash from the top turnbuckle combo took Diamond out of the equation and allowed Espinosa to set up his signature Combover and Hawkins to give the assist with a dropkick from up top for the victory.
Result: Minor Threat d. Zakk Sawyer and Dalton Diamond
After the match, Hagstrom went to the ring to talk to Minor Threat, asking them what's next. Espinosa called out AAPW Tag Team Champions Matt Cage and Christian Rose, saying they are a major threat to the tag titles. Espinosa then laid out the challenge to the champs for a match on June 30 at "Summer Chaos." But would Team Overkill still hold the gold after this show's main event?
"Farmer" Billy Hills vs. "Old School Warrior" Ax Allwardt
This was a rematch from the second episode of Season Two, when Heath Hatton distracted Allwardt, allowing Hills to score the biggest win of his career.
Allwardt wasted no time in bringing the fight to Hills. The two men went back and forth, both fighting to gain early control of the match. Hills hit a big backbody drop and Allwardt rolled out of the ring. On the outside, the two men exchanged blows.
The match came back to the ring, where Allwardt regained his composure and control over Hills. Farmer came out of the corner with a series of clotheslines, though, taking the Old School Warrior off his feet.
Hills' control of the match wouldn't last long, though, as Allwardt's experience allowed him to regain the advantage, wearing Farmer down and draining the energy from the big man.
As Allwardt stopped for a water break, Farmer scored a near fall on a school boy, the same way he won their first contest, but it wasn't enough. A neckbreaker gave Hills the chance, but he tried heading up top and got caught with fists of fury from Allwardt, who followed up with a huge superplex from the top turnbuckle for the victory.
Result: "Old School Warrior" Ax Allwardt d. "Farmer" Billy Hills
In the back, Team Overkill gave a speech about embarrassing losses, such as the ones they suffered in the No Limits Tournament. They say where they failed as individuals, they will heal as a team and destroy everyone who gets in their way, starting with Team XXX.
The video feed cut out again, this time playing a series of shakily filmed clips of McGuire at a park with a young child, presumably his son.
AAPW Tag Team Championship
Team Overkill vs. Team XXX
Joey O'Riley started off with Matt Cage, and the two had a bit of a feeling out process, exchanging holds in the middle of the ring. They exchanged control of the contest, with things seemingly leaning in Cage's advantage. In the end, though, Cage rolled out of the ring to break up the series.
Cage teased a test of strength, but he instead used it as a way to get under O'Riley's skin. The action began to pick up speed, as both men ran the ropes and hit some high impact moves. Both men tagged in their respective partners.
Christian Rose used his size and power advantage to take Jay Spade down, but Spade smartly used his agility to take it right back. Rose threw Spade off the ropes, allowing Spade to attempt an armdrag, but Rose would block it. The next time Spade attempted, though, Rose wouldn't be so successful.
Spade tagged O'Riley back into the match, and they kept Rose away from Cage, working over the tag champ's arm. O'Riley continued to take the fight to Rose, using his unique offense to his advantage. O'Riley quickly made the tag back to Spade, demonstrating some wise tag team strategy.
Team XXX again used the quick tag, bringing O'Riley back into the match. O'Riley showcased a lot of the same offense that worked in his single's victory over Rose in Harrisburg before tagging Spade in once again.
Rose was finally able to make the tag to Cage, and now Team XXX found themselves at the disadvantage as the champs sued their underhanded tactics to slow Spade down. With Spade and Rose in the ring, Spade fought back from behind, and caught Rose in a small package. It wouldn't be enough, however, and Rose would regain his momentum.
Cage came back into the match, and with Rose distracting the referee, he choked Spade out. The challenger would do all he could to fight back, but Cage was too much for Spade to handle. Isolating Spade proved to be a good strategy for Team Overkill, as O'Riley became aggravated on the outside.
A tag allowed Rose to return to the action. The tag champs tried to set up a double-team move, but Spade reversed Rose's powerbomb set up into a hurricarana and set Rose flying right into Cage. This was Spade's moment to break away and make the big tag to O'Riley.
O'Riley came back into the match with a fury, delivering elbow strikes and innovative dropkicks to both Cage and Rose. A Japanese armdrag set Cage up for a flying DDT from the apron. O'Riley took both champs down and hit a double running moonsault for a near fall. He went up top and tried a high-risk move, only to have Cage move. Though O'Riley landed on his feet, Rose met him with a big boot.
The action continued between both teams, with each side scoring near falls. O'Riley seemed poised to have the match in his control, with both members of Team Overkill down on the mat, when Spade tagged himself in. That seemed to cause some tension between Team XXX, allowing Cage to set Spade up for Team Overkill's double-team finisher.
Result: Team Overkill d. Team XXX to retain the AAPW Tag Team Championship
Spade and O'Riley had words at ringside, and O'Riley looked none too happy about what happened. A camera followed them to the back to try to follow the issues, but they discovered something no one expected.
The camera caught Hagstrom talking to owner Sean Chambers in the back. Chambers then announced that he had made the decision to rehire Mike Masters and give him a title shot at "Summer Chaos." On June 30, it will be Edmund "Livewire" McGuire defending the AAPW Heavyweight Championship against Mike Masters.
