"AAPW Collision" returned to WSIL TV-3 today with another action packed hour of excitement.
The show opened with "Playboy" Paul Rose sharing some of his personal tips for living a better life with backstage interviewer David Ade. Rose said one must strive to achieve greatness in personality, style and appearance. He's traveled the country and had his fun, but his opponent, Chris O'Neal, wouldn't be laughing after their match.
All American vs. Pokerface
In the show's first match, the undefeated Pokerface found himself faced off with the larger - and more fan-accepted - All American. The two exchanged early headlocks, but ultimately, and much to the fans' please, the All American gained control of the contest.
Pokerface proved his quick-thinking skills, as well as his ability to result to what some may call "dirty" tactics, when he pulled the referee in front of him as the All American charged him in the corner. The honorable masked superstar was able to stop himself from striking the official, but it cost him control of the match in the process.
Pokerface continued to work over the limbs, both the arms and the legs, of his opponent for several minutes. With the crowd firmly behind him, however, the All American stopped Pokerface's assault. Finally, in the bout's closing moments, the All American would scoop Pokerface up, prepared for his finishing powerslam.
Pokerface would maneuver his way out of the hold, however, and send the referee into the corner. Pokerface capitalized on the opportunity by hitting a low blow on his opponent, scoring the pinfall and keeping his undefeated streak in tact.
Result: Pokerface d. All American
Backstage, "Golden Boy" Greg Anthony and "Serial Thriller" Shane Rich made a promise to AAPW interviewer Sam Smith: They vowed to defeat the Money Makin' Jamboys of The Mississippi Madman and KC Jackson in the show's main event.
Anthony talked about some of history's greatest duos, names like Batman and Robin and Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippin. He pondered what would have happened if there had been two Batmans, or two Jordans? The answer, he said, is showcased in himself and Rich, two of the best AAPW has to offer.
Chris O'Neal vs. "Playboy" Paul Rose
O'Neal made his television debut for AAPW after an absence, but his journey back to the company wouldn't be an easy one, as he found himself facing off against Rose.
Never the conventional athlete, Rose attempted to start the match with a test of strength, but after a few fake-out attempts, he decided to turn the move into a little dance display instead. O'Neal, not willing to be outdone, decided to return the laughs by applying a purple nurple to Rose.
The fun would end there, however, as O'Neal sent Rose to the outside and then flung himself over the top rope onto his opponent. As the action came back into the squared circle, O'Neal would continue to deliver a few power moves, including a hard-hitting enziguri.
Rose appeared to a use an unidentified weapon to regain control of the bout. He whipped O'Neal to the corner, delivered power moves of his own, mostly using his size as a tool of his advantage.
The action once again spilled to the outside, only this time Rose continued to maintain control, working the back of his opponent before rolling O'Neal back into the ring and going for a pin attempt. His nonchalant approach proved an unwise choice, as O'Neal not only kicked out but began to mount a comeback of his own.
O'Neal hit several more big moves, but none were enough to keep Rose down. Ultimately, Rose once again pulled out the illegal object from before, though no one could still identify it, and leveled O'Neal to score the pinfall victory.
Result: Paul Rose d. Chris O'Neal
Returning from commercial abruptly, AAPW Executive Producer Chris Hagstrom found himself being joined unexpectedly in the ring by "Homicidal" Steven Davis. Davis introduces himself to the crowd as the first-ever AAPW Heavyweight Champion and explains that injuries forced him into early retirement. His appearance on the show was not to announce a return to the ring but rather his new appointment to the role of Commissioner in AAPW.
Greg Anthony and Shane Rich vs. Mississippi Madman and KC Jackson
This match between two of AAPW's top tag teams would surely have ramifications on the championship scene, and both teams recognized the seriousness of the stakes heading into this main event bout.
The Madman starts the match by manhandling Anthony, slamming his head into the turnbuckle as the fans approvingly count along. But the Madman's fortune would soon change as a missed charge into the corned allowed for a slight change in momentum.
Madman would soon regain control of the match, tossing Rich over the top rope onto his partner Anthony, who was standing on the outside. After the early onslaught by the Madman, neither Anthony nor Rich dared get back in the ring. Both men tried constant tags before Rich changed his tactics and called for Madman to tag in Jackson, as well.
Jackson gained control of the match early on, using his speed and agility to his advantage. But before long, Rich and Anthony resumed their reign of violence, isolating Jackson from his partner for several minutes and targeting his back with a series of powerful maneuvers.
Jackson worked his way out of his precarious situation, nailing a top rope dropkick in the process, allowing him to make the hot tag to his partner. The Madman re-entered the match with a fury, laying into both his opponents. As Rich and Anthony would begin to attempt a double-team suplex, the Madman reversed them and hit a double suplex of his own.
By the end of the match, Rich and Anthony abandoned their wrestling acumen and relied on cheap tactics. As Anthony was on the apron and the Madman lifted him up to bring him back inside the ring, Rich knelt behind him, causing the big man to fall with the weight of Anthony on top of him. Rich rolled out of the ring and held the Madman's feet, making it too difficult for him to kick out before the referee counted to three.
Result: Greg Anthony and Shane Rich d. Mississippi Madman and KC Jackson
